Interestingly, German News Magazine "Der Spiegel" recently had an article about solar activity. The author in fact warned the readers about the severity of solar activity as the new solar cycle begins.

As you may know the sun's activity follows a cyclic pattern of 11 years and at this point in time it is so completely dead that one doubts anything is happening up there. 

Certainly it is difficult to believe that such massive activity could happen in 2010 already.
